One of the most important signs of civilization is the way we care for older people. If that is true then Clayton is a very civilized place.

There are many groups and individuals caring for older members of the community. Many carers are working in their own homes, repaying the love and care they have received form their seniors. Others work as staff and volunteers, in our care homes, and in the village's own Live at Home Scheme.

The two care homes Oakleigh (01274 880330) and Holly Park (01274 883480) are often looking for caring staff to work with older people. This can be a great way of using your caring nature to make an impact full time.

Coming soon to the village will be Rowanberries Housing with Care. This will be a purpose-built development of modern apartments situated on Baldwin Lane in Clayton. Some flats will be for sale, some for shared ownership and others available to rent.Care services will be provided by an experienced staff team, who are there to ensure 24-hour care and support is available to all residents on-site.
To register your interest in Rowanberries you can telephone Sarah Greenwood on 01332 221837.

Maybe you are not able to work full or part time with older people, but would like to volunteer to help. Well how about the Methodist Live at Home Scheme. This group of hard working volunteers run a lunch club, trips out, a day centre a befriending service and are always ready to respond to the needs of older people in Clayton. You can contact them on 01274 880339
